Page Rank Update – Taking Ages! –New Algorithm and My Take on PR Updates
All webmasters know more or less about Google Page Rank. For those who are unaware –ideally, it is a score given by Google to every website to and measured on a scale of 1-10. Despite many controversies and lots of uninformed people/webmaster denouncing PR as being a mere number, Googe Technology notes that it is in the heart of all Google ranking. A higher PR website is said to be of higher quality.

- Matt Cutts used his blog to get feedback from webmasters with the post “How To Report Paid Links”. It is often believed that Google uses him to communicate effectively with webmasters. There has been lots of hue-n-cry about it – but the fact remains that Google got what they wanted – Feedback. Based on that feedback – they have changed all their algorithms and are testing them.
- Due to new Page Rank algorithm, Google is trying it out with the current PR update and testing it. This is very evident with some selective sites getting updated and most sites not getting updated. Once Google feels their new algorithms have passed all tests and should work perfectly the way they want them to work, the toolbar export will be released. will to wait till that happens.
Possible Outcome with the New Algo:
As is the case, Google will discount lots of paid links (as they might deem any) and there will be huge fluctuations of PR of sites and of course SERPs. So far, it has been quite easy to manipulate PR till PR6 as webmasters can make out how many of what PR inbound links are necessary to attain a particular PR. That kind of Page Rank manipulation will be harder.
Another possible fall-out will be that of raising the standard of PR. What I mean is, no longer will 4 PR7 inbound links be enough for gaining PR6.
All these will change Page Rank & SERPs hierarchy and many SEOs who have developed their business on Paid Link model will loose their jobs- there will be more heart burns.

Hey guys thanks for your comments though I just found that there are lots of typos and grammatical errors!
Anyway, lets hope for the best and lets get ready to face the new algo.
@ Jude-
I tried to make the points as convincing as possible. But we all know –nothing can be said for sure on Google and its algos. Hopefully, my speculations get right.
@ SEO Agency,
Yeah-actually, IMHO, the change started right after last PR update in April. All forums have been full of cries about constantly changing SERPs.
And I believe, PR and SERPs manipulation should be done away with. Hopefully, the new algo will make manipulation harder than ever.

Great article. That may explain the delay. I don’t buy text links but was wanting to sell some.
This new update you are talking about would hurt both ends, as im sure 1/2 people are buying text links for purely pr reasons.
yeah… it may be letter in the long run.

This way of ranking website has been a wonderful invention from the creators of Google. This was mainly to fight against spamdexing (fraud to indexing).

Excellent way to represent experimental results in a post, so the following points would be extracted as:
1- Unique & Original Content is the King as Always
2- Back links from the relevant sites (to which Google named as Important Pages) give more value as those are more natural
Good Share!

Hi Asim-
IMHO- Yes- Google is trying to restore the basic sanctity of Page Rank and its importance in its overall Search Technology.
Due to excessive manipulation of link selling/buying by webmasters, Google has finally changed its algo. –altogether and is making sure that the basic concept of quality relevant content + quality relevant backlinks from reputed sites with high Page Rank are the sole determining factors for Google SERPs.
This would make the whole webmastering job easier as webmasters would be concentrating on providing quality resources to normal surfers.
