I find Rand's comments something like OZ and "Don't look at the man behind the curtain!". If the one-off, smaller webmasters figure out they don't need a "Professional" for SEO; his business goes down the drain. Directories are among the best ways to quickly get indexed and ranked for a site's name and whether Rand likes it or not, he has most certainly bit the hand that feeds him.
