Authority Web Directories
Sunday, June 17th, 2007Many webmasters are fascinated with Authority sites. But it is not easy to define an authority site!
Without going into lengthy details - I would like to illustrate them with pictorial evidence.
From the above picture we can see that - Google is showing four (4) deep-links or sub-pages along with the main URL of XOOPS - the parent site of Object Oriented content management system. This means that Google recognizes this website as the authority in its niche. It is the ultimate website when it comes to everything related to content management using XOOPS.
While its all speculative when it comes to how Google awards Page Rank, SERPs or other status to websites, the consensus belief is that - a site has to getreference links from majority of websites in its niche, it has to get reference links from other authority websites, it has to be content rich and be online for a sizeable period of time without doing anything that Google deems illegal. Based on these factors Google, awards its ultimate recognition, the Authority Status to an established website.
